How long do eyelash extensions last?
Natural lashes shed every day, and extensions shed with them. About 30–65% of extensions naturally shed within 2–4 weeks, depending on your lash cycle and home care, so most clients book a fill every 2–3 weeks to keep their set full. Daily cleansing and brushing help your lashes last longer.
Can I get a facial and lash extensions on the same day?
Yes. Book your facial first and your lashes second, so steam, oils and masks never touch fresh lash adhesive. After a new set or fill, avoid steam, saunas and facials for 24–48 hours while the adhesive cures. If you already wear extensions, let your skin care professional know so they can keep steam and oil-based products away from your eyes.
Why are my lash extensions falling out early?
The most common causes are oil-based skin care or makeup, skipping daily lash cleansing, rubbing your eyes or sleeping face-down, and heat or steam in the first 24–48 hours. Seasonal shedding and hormone changes can also speed up natural lash loss. Tell your lash professional what you're noticing; most retention problems can be fixed with small changes at home or at your next appointment.
Do eyelash extensions damage natural lashes?
When they're applied correctly, with extensions sized for your natural lashes and kept up with regular fills and good home care, eyelash extensions should cause little to no damage to healthy lashes. Your lash professional chooses a length and thickness your natural lashes can safely hold.
Can I wear mascara and makeup with lash extensions?
Mascara is usually unnecessary and isn't recommended on most lash extensions, especially volume fans. If you wear eye makeup, choose oil-free products and remove them gently with a lash-safe cleanser. Avoid waterproof mascara and oil-based removers, which break down lash adhesive.
How should I prepare for my lash appointment?
Come with clean lashes: no mascara, eye makeup or lash serum, and skip curling your lashes that day. Use the restroom before you start, since you'll be lying back with your eyes closed, and wear something comfortable. Many clients relax or even nap during their appointment.
What if my eyes are sensitive or I've reacted to lash glue before?
Tell your lash professional before your appointment, especially if you've had redness, itching or swelling after lashes in the past. They can talk through options for sensitive eyes or suggest a different service. If you have a reaction after an appointment, contact your professional right away, and see a doctor if swelling or irritation is severe.
